Our Mission

On 26 April 1986, in the nuclear reactor of unit 4 of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, there was an explosion and a fire that could not be extinguished for 9 days. An unprecedented amount of radioactive dust was released into the atmosphere.

During the rescue operation the town of Pripyat, which at that time had 50 thousand inhabitants, was evacuated. 9 percent of the area of the then Ukraine was contaminated. 600 thousand people were exposed to an increased radiation dose of 1 mSv.

Thanks to the heroes who sacrificed their lives or health by fighting the reactor fire and then protecting the radioactive material after the explosion, a natural disaster was avoided, saving many human lives.

The events at the Chernobyl power plant made the society aware of the scope of responsibility which is taken by humans for their achievements in the field of technology development and for the surrounding environment.

We hope that thanks to us you will want to broaden your knowledge about these events.
